Virtual Meeting - Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 - 4 - 6:30 PM
Francesco Puppini is an Italian freelance consultant in business intelligence and data warehousing, and he is the inventor of the Unified Star Schema. He has worked on over 30 different projects across ten European countries, for clients from several industries. He is currently working as a business intelligence specialist and innovator, after 20 years spent on Business Objects, Qlik, Tableau, SQL, Teradata, and data modeling.
Bill Inmon is an American computer scientist, recognized by many as the Father of the Data Warehouse. Bill wrote the first book, held the first conference, wrote the first column in a magazine and was the first to offer classes in data warehousing. Bill created the accepted definition of what a data warehouse is - a subject oriented, nonvolatile, integrated, time variant collection of data in support of management's decisions.
The Unified Star Schema (USS) is a new paradigm of data modeling for Analytics. The democratization of data is continuously improving, but there is still a lot to achieve. Self Service Business Intelligence today exists for data expertes, but it does not exist for business users: every time a new business requirement arises, some new code must be written. This "ad-hoc" approach is slow, expensive, and painful.
In this meeting you will become familiar with the USS. You will see that one single Star Schema can satisfy multiple business requirements, and potentially all of them. You will understand how the USS makes this possible. You will see a live demo with Tableau. The session will be highly interactive, because the USS is a work in progress, and you will be welcome to join a community that works constantly to make this resource useful to every data practitioner, across multiple countries, industries, and technologies.I’m a paragraph.
